  • 1. Arran Amarone Cask Finish 50%

    After initially maturing in traditional oak casks over a number of years, The Arran Single Malt in this bottling was ‘finished’ in a selection of Amarone wine casks. The wine casks used in this bottling were sourced from an artisan producer of Amarone wine in the Veneto region of Italy.

  • 6. The Cally 40 Year Old 1974

    Caledonian grain distillery in Edinburgh closed in 1988 and is rarely seen - this 40 year old is comfortably the oldest official release and has been nicknamed ‘The Cally’, as the distillery was by those who worked there. Nose: Coconut, candy lipstick then into concentrated Werther’s Originals and richer, spicier treale. Palate: Bitter caramel now, warming wood spices, dates and cin namon. Finish: Creamy vanilla takes centre stage for a moment.

    The peaty whisky has been sourced from an undisclosed distillery on the island, though we have been told that the liquid was aged for 10 years in a mixture of bourbon barrels and Spanish oak sherry quarter casks, which sounds thoroughly delicious. It’s bottled without any additional colouring, or any of that chill-filtration, too.
